The Sounds of New Caledonia
New Caledonia is a country that appeals to the senses; full of rich colours, extraordinary flavours and sounds as interesting and diverse as its landscape and people. It is home to the world’s largest tropical lagoon, a beautiful blend of French and Kanak culture, with fantastic scenery and wildlife. New Caledonia Tourism sent musicians “Crooked Colours” to the heart of the Pacific and followed their young, adventurous spirits as they searched for, discovered and captured the everyday sounds of the islands.

Crooked Colours are an Australian band on the rise, receiving heavy air play on Triple J, the release of their acclaimed debut album and a recent sold out national tour. Their mix of indie and electronic sounds which are moulded into diverse and layered productions, are both subtle and addictive. Their wandering, unstructured musical style is a perfect reflection of New Caledonia’s idyllic and relaxed atmosphere.
The Band went on a mission to New Caledonia to explore urban and wild regions, to capture interesting sounds and video along their journey, and to collate this collection of sounds into a music piece that connects the listener to the destination.
